Telegraph: Financial crisis: What kind of poor are you?
Can't make my mind up whether all the stereotypes in this article are faux or not, but it's a hilarious read bordering on black comedy and a sad reflection of the position the UK is in these days.

...she had better do it soon, before GB makes the pound in her pocket, effectively worthless as an international exchange currency.

The sad part is, I know most of these people (by other names, of course). They are caught in trapped situations, and miserable. For them everyday knocks that we all shrug off are magnified.
I'm just sooo thankful I don't feature there......

Student Poor: David earns £20,000 as an engineer. Has a student loan of £12,000. The IR increased from 2.4 to 4.8% in September, and he's worried that he'll never pay it off and be able to buy a house. He has a credit card, but seldom uses it for fear of debt. David shares a house with friends, doesn't own a car and his social life revolves around the pub. He'd like a girlfriend, but suspects he can't afford one. To me it seems like David is sensible, so where is the much talked about bank of Mum & Dad? Could they not pay of the £12,000 with the statement that “son this is the only hand out you will get”? Or are they broke as well? David needs to find a female partner for life, get married and have kids. Otherwise he and thousands of others will never know how much pleasure children bring. Ok old fashioned I know, and I can here many parents screaming pleasure what pleasure!!!!!!!
