It's all going in the right direction

The Independent: Persimmon suspends new projects amid fears of falling prices

I am sure that this ties into something I read on HPC, where it was suggested that when housebuilders stop building it is followed by spiralling house prices. Guess who gets scr*wed(same preople as abolition of 10p tax band)? See-Under the plan, a pet policy of the Prime Minister, Gordon Brown, the Government foresees an annual new-build rate of 240,000 homes per year. Last year, the industry brought about 165,000 new homes on to the market. Mr Farley warned that 2008 will be much worse. "It is going in the wrong direction. We could see 110,000 or 120,000 [houses built next year]," he said. How can it be ok to say one thing and do the other in this day and age-scandalous-I for one am sick of it. P.S BOE will put INT Rates up 0.5% on 8th May or sooner!!!

They should tax unbuilt land with residential planning permission, or remove the permission if the land isnt built upon within a reasonable timescale.

This situation is disgraceful when we have people desperate to buy and are having to rent in 'No smokers, No DSS, No kids' tenancies.

No crap from EU about the tenants human right to have kids or a family life then.

What a disgraceful shithole of a country we live in!

I see that Farley the Chief Exec of Persimmon is calling on the Goverment to ease the Stamp Duty burden to keep things moving. Excuse me, but why doesn't he reduce the price of his overpriced houses ?

They need to get a law through quickly to stop large developers postponing building on approved land.
This is a ridiculous situation.
They should be forced to develop as per approved plans or re-sell the land to other parties or self builders at a fair rate.
