Of course he was fully expecting the freebee treatment. Almost reaching pathological stage, certainly.

Why didn't we see this on the BBC? The man lives (and always has lived) in a dream world, where he is above mere mortals. He may not think he has to pay now, but hopefully the day will come...

Maybe he couldn't afford it after Sterling's demise.

""One of the policemen travelling with him offered to pay for the ticket, but the ticket inspector said it wasn't necessary.''
- wasn't necessary? Why's that then?

If it wasn't necessary to pay for the ticket why did the inspector even ask to see it? stupid story really.

Why does it take an Australian newspaper to reveal this story about an British ex-PM, living in Britain, travelling on a British train, breaking a British law?
This is so depressing - it makes you only guess about the grip the government has on the media.

Don't know how he managed to get that far there are Gestapo type guards all over the railway system checking your travel documents before you even get anywhere near a train.

His wife didnt get away with it and it was reported on the BBC ! - news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/597781.stm
"The £10 penalty fare paid by Cherie Blair for travelling on a train to Luton without a ticket, puts the prime minister's wife in remarkably distinguished company"

Maybe he just had to reset the deals on his BTL's and is a bit short of cash.

Maybe he's trying to get arrested so that he can go to prison and wake up to something less scary than his wife?

Just to inform British people that Tony Blair is also working as personal advisor to the Rwandan president Paul Kagame a dictator who has killed more than 5 million people in central Africa. So it would not surprise me if he is now dogging train maybe that's what the Rwandan president has thought him as well!!

Why should it be illegal to travel on a train without a ticket? I'm sick of my tax money being spent subsidising corporate profits! At most it should be a trespass offence and the perpetrator should be asked to leave the property at the earliest opportunity. That would see me to work for free every day ;-)

or may be it is another back door publicity scan/spin to get back into the news. I am sure he will say he is sorry and everything will be honky dory
