Delusion, delusion, delusion
Times: Rosie Millard's Dinner party conversation turns to property and the credit crunch
“We are going to have to get used to a brave new world. Negative equity, I salute you.” Well, at least we’ll go down with vigour, if go down we must."

Rather confirms a little suspicion I've had. The mortgage surveyors; running a little scared at the possibility of some of their brethren ending up in court for conspiring to over value BTL flats, are now pitching low.
For those coming off a 2yr fix it will soon be SVR's all round...

Estate agents blame the media for negative reporting and tell (what I can only presume to be) tall tales of recent sales at asking price in order to talk up the market. We can't prove they're lying until the Land Registry information becomes available and so everyone plays the 'wait and see' game. It's a game of poker - who's bluffing? I need to buy a home in the next 6 weeks and I certainly can't afford the massive hike in rental prices. It's all very well saying "rent and wait", but it's just too expensive. Either way, if you have to move home in the next few months, you're gonna get screwed.

Just commented on the wrong article: comment should have been here and read:
"God I wish that bint would shut the f**k up - when is she going to stop banging ON and ON about her bloody house price. Get over it already!"

What a bee-hatch.
Summary of the article: at a dinner party she heard one of her neighbours houses had been valued at a value far lower than her own house had been valued at 18 months ago. She therefore got on the phone to two estate agents (yes, one of them was Foxtons) and "confirmed" that her house value hadn't dropped in value and had even risen in value according to Foxtons. Everything is OK again, journalists are just talking the market down.
That's great, Rosie. Good for you. Now fuk off.
