The Euro makes up 57.6 % of the USD index. So it makes sense if the euro collapses then the USD index rises.

But is the USD the new safe haven again. Hardly. This is why we will see gold spike into May/June.

The only way the $ can strengthen is if every other fiat currency suddenly goes into hyper-drive with respect to its printing presses. Although central banks around the world, including the ECB, are pursuing inflationary policies through low IRs/stimulus packages, etc., there is no way on earth that they are about to catch up with the levels if currency debasement suffered by the $ at the hands of the FED over the past 25 years.
