We are in deep sh*t!
Mail: Queen cancels diamond wedding party in wake of economic gloom
"The Queen has cancelled a party to mark her diamond wedding anniversary because she felt it would be "inappropriate" to hold a lavish celebration with the country on the brink of recession" I thing Gordon is already packing.

So even Her Maj realises that the party is over. I'm sure that the old feudal aristocracy never liked the BTL brigade any more than we do. The nouveaux riches landlords will find out that they really belong to the peasant class after all.

I have to agree with some of the comments in the article, this is a subtle way of her letting us know what she thinks of the clown we have in charge at the moment and the continued damage he's doing to the country.

The unelected have more of a handle on the population than the elected who spend hundreds of thousands on their 'expenses'.

Queen; "I'll share some of my subjects pain"
Gordon Brown and the rest of the bloated public sector: " Let them eat cake"
Head's will roll me thinks. Even if just metaphorically.

I think the Queen (and I'm not a major royalist) should go ahead and throw a massive bash just to rub the peasants / BTL / EA's faces in it.

Age brings wisdom that many of the unwise and unthinking call grumpiness.
"Her highlighting of the dire state of the economy will not be welcomed by the Prime Minister, who faces daily reminders from his advisers that the electorate has lost the "feel-good" factor – and is punishing him for it in the opinion polls."
The term 'feel-good factor' in itself is an inditement of the deceit of politicians, if things were truly good we wouldn't need to feel that they were, we would fully know and realise it.

Unless of course if she is more privy and complicit than any of us understand. As head of state, she could talk out at the bankers and politicians who are against any constitutional decency developed in the last century.

Long live the queen!
See the comments on this site, really reminds you there are still loads of people out there who identify themselves withe the queen.
Its a smart move on her part and is a beautiful payback to the treachery of the Government. I hope Gordon in trembling in his shoes.
He brought this miss-fortune on Britain. He could have stopped Blair, but he was totally colluding in the process. Blair and Brown deserve
far worse than they have received

Reminds me of the occasion when Grenada (a commonwealth country) was invaded by the Americans back in the eighties. The Yanks told Downing St what their plans were, but no-one briefed the Palace.
When Maggie went for her weekly audience, she was shown to a room that had only one chair - with the Queen sitting on it..

Wheels within wheels gentlemen..."Her Royal slyness the queeg" as Ronnie Barker put it is the head of state and if the head of state does something like this you can bet your blue peter badge that it was done behind closed doors with Gordon. Smoke and mirrors, all is not as it seems

Folks,
Maybe the Queen surfs the web and reads this blog like we do, so she is more up to speed with the developments of the real economy than the ludicrously high-salary+perks officials in the government
Maybe she has read articles like these belows and she is worried she will not be able to remortgage Buckingham Palace or Windsor Castle.

Or she wants to prepare the public to the news she has to sell St James' Palace to Sheik Abdul Al Falafel when her son's rent expires. That is after selling Windsor to Oleg Oilandgasinsky.
Remember she is a big homeowner, arguably the largest real estate owner in the country. She has a lot to lose in the downturn.

she must be taking the advice of some incredibly , incredibly smart people.

Or are the public being softened up to the reality of recession / worse? And the Queen gets loads of Public Kudos from this judging by the comments under the Dailymail article.
