My personal favourite:

Henley-in-Arden – Warwickshire
Trudi Dean BSc (Hons) Est. Man
John Earle & Co.
Tax, council tax rises, jobs, fuel costs, lack of
confidence that the government can run the
economy at all.

Quote from report: " Amidst the gloom some positive elements to the survey. Sales expectations turned positive for the first time since June 2007,"
LOL, I think this shows how the Surveyors are "trying to do their bit" to talk up the market. Sales expectations is the only remaining variable that doesn't need proven facts and figures to be justified.

Had to drop the price on the house I'm selling with the view of renting. This was not actively suggested by my EA, who had a fit and started rabbiting about the rubbish in the press and all those gloom mongers causing the slump.
I just went along with it trying not to snort in the mouthpiece!

Ashford – Middlesex
John Frost Esq. MRICS
The Frost Partnership

"Sadly, the level of market activity has
decreased following a ‘reasonable’
January. I feel that one of the
problems is that the usual increase in
new instruction has not happened, so
agents are still over-valuing and
cutting fees in order to maintain a
market share. Buyers, on the other
hand, are only considering property
which is realistically priced."

The number of new mortgage approvals (not re-mortgages) should give them a clue !
