Online shoppers caught sales fever last month, spending more on the web than in any previous January, figures show.

Times are a changing. I agree the CPI + RPI could be out of touch.

I thought that John Lewis themselves were being credited in December(Christmas sales) with having advanced their business model at the right time and given themselves a strong online presence to accompany their stores. Obviously they only make profit on even months of the year and were not included in those that benefited highlighted by this article.
