Momentum, we know, is a powerful force from politics to securities markets. But it could be at its most damaging in the housing market.

What the FT calls momentum, the rest of us call "market sentiment". Sentiment is still relatively strong (except in this blog of course). Once the figures are unquestionably negative, sentiment will turn sour too.
