"hello, HM customs?? yes, I would like to report the treasury for tax evasion and missappropriation of funds, namely, propping up a failed bank with public money without holding a referendum for the public"

A lot of domiciled individuals in the City use offshore "trusts" to hide their true earnings and effectively only pay 5-10% income tax. However the HMRC has chosen
to turn a blind eye to these "arrangements" and instead continues to target genuine businesses with the venomous
IR35 and "income shifting". Wonder why that is ?

regarding teh offshore trusts. I live in the channel islands - not because I am dodging tax but because I was born adn raised here. Mr Brown, the fat incompetent oaf, promised to get rid of unfair tax rules including "offshoring". There are a lot of people here that are fed up with the finance industry. It is an extreme case - a mix of creating jobs, over paying individuals, but making it so prohibitively expensive to own a home that the individual is worse off. A lot of locals want the finance industry to go. It has ruined these islands. They are more expensive than London. We really wish that fat man Brown would stick to his promises. Honestly - the only people to benefit are already rich.

inbreda: I thought the channel islands offered a two-tier system for housing, whereby locals can buy at vastly discounted prices to newcomers?

I heard that the Arsenal footballers are (allegedly) paid via an offshore arrangement and thus avoid the normal taxation treatment - anyone else hear this and can confirm authenticity or otherwise?
