The US banks and experts are trying to talk themselves out of a hole.

It must be annoying when Nouriel comes along and points out the holes in the logic!

Nice interview, the recession/sub prime topics are beginning to feature in US election broadcasts. Obama mentioned them on a BBC video today.

This is still a kind of Denial designed to avoid panicking the markets 'prematurely' at all costs. A stealthy move toward "We told you so," when they are so deep in it that there will be no hope of avoiding,let alone reversing the inevitable crashes that are surfacing daily.
This is the reason for the time limits which leave room for an escape clause,just in case a miracle happens.
A Political manoeuvre using a near certainty but playing safe.
