BTL Properties turned into Cannabis Factories

BBC: Homes turned into 'drug factories'

"You have well-dressed, respectable people going around to local estate agents and renting property. Nothing seems particularly out of the ordinary about that." Tenants usually pay their rent up to months in advance before knocking down walls, installing heating and lighting then disappear after the harvest, leaving houses in disrepair and landlords facing unpaid electricity bills of up to thousands of pounds.

"The National Landlords Association have urged people renting out their properties to check the homes on a regular basis to avoid this type of problem in the first place."

If my estate agent starts paying "regular visits" I'll be sure to tell them to feck off and I'll find another estate agent who is less bloody nosy!

It's not just a problem in the West Mids, there was a raid on an ordinary semi detached house in central Newbury, West Berkshire just a few weeks ago. Police found an identical farming operation to the ones described in this article.

"Ms Wong said that some of the young people are often told that they are growing tomato plants."

I think you will find some of these 'victims' know more about plants than some botanists.

And no surprise that around 80% of these criminals are Vietnamese - another joy that mass immigration has brought us.

I have often discovered an illicit canabis factory during roof void inspections. They can be quite complicated, with ultra violet/sun lamps, ventilator fans and automatic watering systems. Growing your own is not a new phenomenon.

Uncle Chris...mass immigration does not include Vietnamese. There are probably only two reasons Vietnamese nationals would be able to legally immigrate into the UK. First if they are married to an EU citizen and the second is that they have special skills for a job that could not be filled by an EU citizen. Both these situations would be very few. So if there are lots of vietameses they could well be illegals in which case they can easily be kicked out. It was the accession of Eastern European states (Poland etc) that has resulted in a wave of migration and these new EU citizens can all migrate legally....just as you can migrate to Poland if you wish...

Will it seems like the drug is on demand and I would not be suprised if the landlords are taking 'back handers, its big money after all.

It is a shame that niave illegal immigrants are used to cultivate the plants, but then people trafficking is a seperate issue!
