BBC puts the Boot into Provincial City Centre BTL New-Build Flats
BBC: Have the buy-to-let blues begun?
With a remarkable change of sentiment the BBC fingers Manchester, Leeds, Nottingham and Birmingham as New-Build Buy-To-Loose hot spots and features Manchesters up-market Beetham Tower as a particularly good example.

Is there no such thing as an editor on the BBC web site? What about 'Buy to let market still thriving', a the blatant piece of puffery from the CML which the BBC has as its top link on this story.

Hilarious story on BBC Look North tonight. The students are apparently moving out of Headingley in Leeds into the new build flats in the City centre. A couple of students were interviewed and they said that for 20 quid a week extra they could have all these nice new interiors and it would save them on bus and taxi fares into town. I don't think that is quite what the BTL's had in mind but I suppose that some rent is better than nothing to supplement the mortgage!
One of the residents in Headingley said "I know that property prices will probably falter because there will be less demand but at least the area will look a little smarter".
Wonder what those nice interiors will look like after a year of student occupancy?

Also have a look at
http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/thereporters/evandavis/
which has lots of comments from people who have lived in such flats.
Note to webmaster. I can't post this as a separate article as the web address is for a BBC blog and has been used before.
