It's Brown's mess so let him lie in it

Times: Conservatives would not block bill to nationalise Northern Rock

The Conservatives have a brainwave, it's called letting the government get on with it and seeing what happens next.

A very good move, now it's your turn Captain Darling and Mr Brooon.

Its also because the Tory brigade are up to their necks in property. That party has always been about property, right from its inception. Cameron even talked about wanting to bail out mortgage holders a while back, but went quiet, presumably because he was told that he was out of his depth and hadn't costed the proposal.

Okay planning4acrash, so Labour is a disaster from start to finish, we know that. So what is the alternative, there is only one other at the moment, yes like it or not, it is a conservative government. What is your proposed alternative, what, don't vote., waste a vote on the Lib dems or the BNP ?

It's because of this attitude that Labour have stayed in power. Both Labour and the Conservatives are pretty dire, but one has a slight edge over the other, so vote for them.

As for the article, both parties are out for votes, a vote looser for the Conservatives would be to have absolutely anything to do with the Northern Rock affair. Labour now have all the rope they need to hang themselves, end of story.

NR isnt really the problem because they can easily raise some money on the markets for this via bonds (the yield premium may mean they -sorry we -have to lose some money) . No the problem is if another one goes - then what happens? Does the bubble become nationalised? I'm expecting an upward spike in Sterling soon but need to do some chart work before entering.
