What about ICICI bank? Is it as risky as icesave?

He mentions the Icelandic banks and the risk to their "foreign accounts". ICESAVE is based in Newcastle and has signed up to ALL the UK rules, exactly like HSBC, Lloyds et al. So the 35k deposit guarantee applies to them as much as the high street institutions. As I said before, I have about 34k with ICESAVE so now I'll be opening a Sainsbury's account to run alongside (after I've checked who provides backing that is - if it's HBOS I think I'll look elsewhere).

bonnie and clyde , dick turpin seem in history not to have such a bad press one would think . is this because they robbed banks etc. so some people smiled back then at the robbers getting robbed

to Jayk, yes HBOS is behind sainsbury's, look elsewhere.
