trendirama: Why Domain Names are the Best Investment for the Future
It seems that as the younger generation are unable to get on the real property ladder they have been compensating their real world financial shortcomings by buying up digital land at a phenomenal pace - and for only £10 a shot - in the form of domain names. The twist being that much of this new internet land has started to come to fruition as incredibly valuable 'land' - hence diamonds.com going for $7million.
This article probably shows how differently the younger generation think - especially with regard to the concept of owning 'land'. It's also amusing to see that even domain names are being jumped on by a buy-to-let frenzy - as good names are being secured - and then rented out on a monthly basis.

Car Number Plates are the best investment for the future! More and more people are buying cars, especially the younger generation who can't afford houses. Number plates are just like domain names: only a limited supply exists. Some of the top number plates sell for tens of thousands of pounds! Quick, buy now before it's too late!

Ok seriously, domain names aren't actually worth that much. Why? Because if the name you want isn't available then you can just take another similar one. For example if HousePriceCrash.co.uk was already taken, you could still get HomePriceCrash or PropertyPriceCrash or LandValueCollapse or some other variation. Better still, make up a completely new word - Google, eBay, Bebo, Wikipedia - none of these words was even in the dictionary ten years ago. Very few successful companies made their fortune by shelling out tens of thousands of dollars for a domain name. If your product is successful, people will find you no matter what the name.

You totally misunderstand domain names and their value - they are not "just like" car number plates.
Read the article and you might learn something instead of spouting off with what little knowledge you have on the subject.
