Did we say 1%? ...Um, we actually meant any amount of money as all we have to do is order some more printing presses!

Bloomberg: Bush Open to Larger Economic Stimulus Package

The Bush administration today left the door open for a larger stimulus package than the $150 billion plan the president already has announced to avert a recession.

``I've not heard anybody suggesting larger than 1 percent, but that doesn't mean, behind closed doors in their negotiating discussions, they aren't bringing that up,'' White House press secretary Dana Perino said.

The US economy (and particularly the housing market) has been declining for at least a year. The Credit Crunch has been around since August. Isn't this cut a bit sudden? .......Why is that?

Perhaps its election season over there?

Mmmmn..

Bush's economic stimulus package is nothing but a cover to cut taxes. After the crisis of 9/11, the US government (and to a lesser extent the UK) leapt at the opportunity to restrict freedom: they enacted new laws (such as the USA-PATRIOT act) in the name of protecting people against terrorism. In this financial crisis they are imposing drastic tax cuts, all in the name of protecting the economy. The Republican party seems to have a long-term goal of protecting the rich and powerful - they want lower taxes and less freedom for ordinary people to protest.

For all my complaints about Brown and the UK, I'm glad we're not the US.

Here, here Drewster. I am increasingly thinking that, whilst we have been sucked in far into this stupid game, that we are not in the worst position. Could be a f*5k site better, but could be a lot worse.
