Inflation feeds in to pay rises!!
Telegraph: Brown: MPs selfish for demanding pay rise
Go on boys fill your boots!!!! MP's demand inflation busting 10% pay rise!!! I assume as Gordon is keen on investment we will see an improvement in productivity from the MP's; or are we better off letting them sleep?? Oh I can hear their defence now - we work late etc etc however, I don't think they will mention that they start late and they have a three month summer holiday and a long Christmas holiday. And this is on top of their index linked gold plated pension. Oh and I almost forgot they also get 100,000quid in expenses per year!!! What do we get in return???

They know a downturn is coming, they want to milk what they can while they can. Write to your MP and ask them which way they'll be voting. And remind them of inadequately equipped servicemen and police (real) pay rise deals.

Have you noticed the amount of unenforceable petty legislation that these clowns (UK MP's) have to dream up to keep themselves busy. We should be cutting MP's salaries not raising them as they are no serving no better function than glorified local councilors. Most MP's are hardly worth £30K per year, the two waste of space wrinkly old bliar babes that I am unfortunately lumbered with should be put out to pasture straight away.

A great post.
"The SSRB is thought to have been told it was the cross-party consensus of the Commons that an annual salary of £100,000 would be a fairer reflection of MPs' worth."
What a surprise.
"Gordon Brown has refused to back down in the dispute with the police service, saying that pay restraint is necessary to keep a lid on inflation."
Maybe the increasing pay demands are a result of monetry inflation, caused by a policy of cheap credit and hosing money at the economy at the drop of a hat.

I doubt the Police will react kindly to this, after having a £200 (in total) backdating of pay rejected, with the minister harking on about inflation!
