I think the big unknown here is employment. Reduced pay rises in the public sector isn't going to make a huge difference short term but given that so much cheap labour is flooding in, employers will looking to swap some experienced but expensive staff for the minimum waged. I know someone who organizes day's out for old people. Highly skilled task I'm sure, but 40k a year ? She and many others in the public sector are going to come down to earth with thud. Unemployment will inevitably increase over the coming year but to what extent is still unclear. Employment is leaning on housing and vice versa.
