The Economist also wrote on 13 Sept 2007 (Gold was $700 back then)
http://www.economist.com/finance/displaystory.cfm?story_id=9804542
"As the greenback weakens, Goldman Sachs expects the price of gold to move to $725 per troy ounce over the next year or so"
There was no opposing view about gold going to $3000 by 2012.
We must take this as a clear buy signal.

There is a website called www.gata.com which argues that central banks have been manipulating the gold currency for years, and that gold reserves at central banks are less than stated.
Interesting stuff. There is also a conspiracy that Brown sold the gold to help out some bankrupt institution in the US, although I think the incompetent fool explanation is better.
However, he did authorise the sale in a way guaranteed to lower the price.
Just keep looking at inflation I suppose.

Ok, gold is a good investment at the moment - we get it.
Soon we'll have more articles about gold on here than house prices. Someone should setup a website called www.goldisthebestinvestment.co.uk and we could have some more topics that relate to falling UK house prices on here.
