Well, they do have a point.........
AbundantHope Blog: Preparing for the upcoming US Economic Collapse
Many of the problems that sank the Soviet Union now endanger the US.
For instance, like the Soviet Union in the late 1980s, it has a huge,
well-equipped and very expensive military bogged down fighting Muslim
freedom fighters in foreign lands. Also, energy shortfalls linked to
peaking oil production and horrendously unfavourable capital account
and trade balances is resulting in runaway foreign debt. Add to that a
delusional self-image, an inflexible ideology, and unresponsive,
totally corrupt authoritarian judicial and political systems.

Utter tosh. The US may been heading for a severe dip in house prices and possibly even recession, but to draw parallels with the creaking repressive system that was the Soviet Union in the 80s - that's just delusional and plain daft

Hi lvmreader,
I agree with the opening critique on the USA but was floored by the rest of the website. Is it really managed by people who "hear" from people on other planets?

This article strikes me as a 'survivalist' article. Run to the hills, where your shotgun and food cache are waiting ... Who are we to say that the author is wrong? Modern economies rely upon 'just in time' distribution and, fundamentally, confidence in the system. If it breaks down, it will not be easy to put together again.
For the doom mongers among you, I recommend reading Charles Hugh Smith's article: http://www.oftwominds.com/blogaug07/implodometer.html
True survivalists who cannot afford to live in their own castle with food and water might care to contemplate the quote from the above article: 'the key in my view will always be community'

I'm with Alan. Good thought provoking powerpoint surrounded by all this insane stuff. Either my irony sensors have failed or the USA presentation is mad by association.

Russia is different in many ways, US corporations have global reach and their government represents them and fosters competition, whilst Russian big players like Gazprom subside on anti-competition and state bailouts. Similar type of situation, different types of countries.

big players like Gazprom subside on anti-competition and state bailouts?
And what's happening on Wall Street with US interest rate cuts and SIV superfunds if not a state bailout

@Alan,
I often have the same reaction to President Bush and Fox News. They "hear" people telling them to "attack countries".
At least these guys aren't in charge of nuclear weapons and vast standing armies.

This is precisely the sort of foil-hattery that ought not to be on the website.
