They just want somewhere to live

Yorkshire Evening Post: Needy's six month wait for a Leeds council property

Not a house price crash issue here, but this relates to people who just want to have somewhere half decent to live with their family. There are no properties to rent or buy at a reasonable price for these people. There will be a lot more in this situation in the rental or house purchase system, unless the madness stops. Hopefully it will soon or we all may have to wait for 107 weeks.

This is ridiculous, there are zillions of flats lying empty in Leeds city centre at the moment. Really poor planning.

Market forces will eventually sort this out, just remember 'The Market is Everything' and can solve all problems (eventually) and it's Free Market Forces that this Government (or lack of it) believe in.

1st hand experience of this in London.

Involved arson attack and my family home after which mother, girlfriend and two sisters (one under the age of 16) and myself being told we could share a room in hostel dive. We didn't score high enough on the priority score. The guy at the council tried to off his mates house to us. Shelter said this happens a lot. "Only £350p/week" (Mother was paying £650p/month)

Guy put petrol through our letter box at 2am whilst we slept. Crown prosecution didn't want to press for attempted murder as they have their targets too so they down-graded to "intent to endanger life" He's out now. That happens a lot as well apparently.

Enuii think the French used a guillotine to sort this out in days past
