Gordon Brown wants to be judged on his 'vision' not 'competance'

Guardian: Brown: there will be no autumn election

Strange slightly cryptic quote from Brown on his reasons for not dashing to the polls.

"What I want to do is show people the vision that we have for the future of this country in housing and health and education and I want the chance, in the next phase of my premiership, to develop and show people the policies that are going to make a huge difference and show the change in the country itself." Has he forgot the last 10?

This is bad and good news!

Bad News:
Obviously Gordie is privy to various bits of inside info re-economy etc.. – so in his eye(s) it’s not that bad. Nevertheless, we now face the near future under the same total mismanagement of the past ten years!’
Good news:
We’ve been given a bit more breathing space to make the correct get-out manoeuvres.
Lets make the best of a particularly bad job.
All the best!

He should have gone for it now whilst he had a chance. I don't think he will be able to maintain the illusion of a healthy economy for another 2 years, and when the downturn is recognised by the sheeple, he is the one who will be held accountable and not his treasury stoodge .... Darling. All things considered though, I do think he has handled the whole question of a snap election really, really badly, and has probably gone down in many people's. You can tell by the tone of those reporting on the issue that they are pretty furious - probably cancelled holidays and plans to be there to cover it.

The reason he's not having an election is really simple - he wouldn't have won according to the polls.

"The announcement came as a new opinion poll gave the Tories a six-point lead in the key marginal seats where they are battling Labour. The ICM survey of 83 constituencies for tomorrow's News of the World suggested the Tories would defeat 49 Labour MPs - including several ministers, among them the home secretary, Jacqui Smith."

That really wouldn't have looked good, if it had happened. I think he wanted the election before the coming shitstorm, which by now he probably knows it for exactly what it's going to be.

That's it, Gordon Brown has done a Callaghan... He will go to the vote at the end of the 5 years of this Labour term and be absolutely thrashed by the other parties. Next year the new Labour economy will be exposed for the total load of hog wash that it is now that the global economy is faltering. Gordon will be remembered as the new Labour bottler.

He Marched Then Up to The Top of The Polls

And Then He Marched Them Down Again.

(Your Turn to Add More)

Now I Am Happy That Gordon Brown And His Labour Underlings Will Have to Eat The
Economical Detritus That He & Blair & Their Propitiative MP’s Have Dumped Onto The
Complacent British Public With Their Fabricated Spin For Self Egoistical Glory.

I LOVE the fact that he must have been sweating like a pig for the past week or so. The Brown Bounce was followed by the Labour Conference and he seemed unstoppable. Now suddenly he knows he can't take anything for granted and I'm pleased because to be frank he's ****ed this country up the **** over the past 10 years and probably for the coming 20. Lord knows what he's thinking though cos I do not think he has a cat in hell's chance of improving his poll rating over the next couple of years. Admittedly a snap election would have looked cowardly and Liebour aren't doing so well in the polls this week but can he and his cronies really see a point in the next 2 years where their chances will look better? IMHO, there is NOTHING he can do to rescue the situation now.

IMHO there was never any such thing as Brown bounce as I'm sure it was all made up by the Neo Liebour media. You've only got to look at the BBC's have your say on the subject to realise there are a hell of a lot of real people out there who absolutely despise the man, his predecessor and his fake party. The property market will be his downfall when his and Tone's former voters are up to their eyes in debt and stuck with houses that are worth less than their sub-prime mortgages.

Now that there is no possibility of an election in the near future, it will be interesting to see how Brown handles things without Blair. I do wonder how much Brown was dominated by the last PM - now we'll get the chance to see.

Mind you on a serious note it just shows you how much he had New Labour's interests at heart over his own. Possibly he wants to win his leadership, at the costs of putting New Lab to the slaughter but more likley he was afraid of not even winning his seat in view of Alex Salmond.

Paul and Brown

>>>>His deficiencies are that he is self-righteous and angry and this anger he projects onto others for their
failure for not living up to the ideals (of his father) that he fails to meet. Ethical colleagues will not
tolerate and reject his dictatorial demeanor. The direct consequences are that this manifests for him
criticism causing in him the rage (masochistic predicaments that he unconsciously desires).
His inevitable consequences are that he is fastened to a rail track of logical and rational thinking and
is concerned about the consequences of his actions, he persuades himself that things will be different
if he makes exceptions in his own case. Nevertheless, he is not exempt from the consequences of his
actions.

Eventually, the blunders of his monitory policies (primarily designed to patronise Mr Blair’s agenda:
A ‘sweat talking’ nice version of his father), will accumulate in an economic crisis. Then he will
become caught in the grips of his basic fear of being condemned and he will completely lose sight of
his basic desire to be right. This will result in him exposing his true character, that of the classic
family and political ‘dictator’. The resulting neurosis will bring about his downfall by contradicting
himself, doing the very thing he condemns others for: Twisting reason into unreason, truths into lies,
order into chaos, righteousness into rank perversion.

The Correct Handling Strategy For Mr Brown For Anyone That is Dominated by Him

Note: Mr Brown’s average level of psychological and emotional health is - 2, (negative two):
chronic anger as outlined on page 76 of the book entitled: Naked Sprit. nakedspirit.co.uk

The more I type it, the more fun it seems. I wonder if Bottler Broone will have the "courage" to take those hard but necessary economic decisions when his indebted, houseprice-based miracle economy stops being such a "miracle."

Yesterday was a good day. Endland beat Australia; France knocks out the Kiwis, and Bottler Broone is shown to be made out of the "brown" stuff!
