The press positive spin on the Nationwide figures
Times: UK house prices rise despite lending fears
"UK house prices are still continuing to rise, increasing by 0.7 per cent during September, despite turmoil in the global financial markets and the resulting crisis at mortgage lender, Northern Rock"... maybe the Times (and other papers) did not understand that the Nationwide statistics reflect buying intentions (and mortgage promises) of before the Northern Rock crisis (and probably even before the August credit crunch). Let us wait for October and November data to assess the real impact of the "financial turmoil"!

Maybe when the crash comes, the site should close down and just have a big screen saying "I told you so"!

I think first we should have a party

Good plan c76.
We should state the criteria. E.g. When UK median house price falls below say £150K.
Then we should order the champagne and invite the press along :-)

It would be intersting to put names to faces. Don't forget to invite Dave and Landlord along for the entertainment!

We can have a tar and feathers competition between Kirsty/Phil, Glorious Sunshine and friends.
Jelly and ice cream anyone?

Could be a facebook organised party at Trafalgar Square, fancy dress with a theme, maybe a silent disco where people bring their walkmen and have shirts produced with their screen names, would be amusing to meet David 90210 for example, except he'd probably deck me!!
Would have to have a second party tho, when prices bottom out at 90k!!!!!!!

Instead of Trafalgar Square, maybe we can have the party in Lincoln's Inn Fields, WC2A, where the head office of the Land Registry is. Thought it would be an appropriate address for the first HPC party.

have to see whether we can reserve space from the People Republic of Camden
