Sssshh Its supposed to be a secret

Financial Times: Bank warns emergency borrowers

Naughty, naughty, the Bank of England reminds financial institutions authorised to use its emergency lending facility that they are not supposed to discuss it publicly.

Oh dear this is pathetically futile on the part of the central bank.

It just shows how little the central bank understands credit and capital markets and the people behind them. If you find out from an employee of a bank that has taken the loan, are you going to advise your clients to keep money there or move it out sharpish?

Idiots. The Mervyn King of Wishful Thinking strikes a bum note again.

This is probably a non-story - a central bank doing what a central bank does.

If they were lending money cheap, or to outfits that were insolvent, then we should be concerned.

A couple of years back or so, a lot of Barclays BACS wage payments failed to go through on time one month. Publicly they blamed a computer failure, but in fact they accidentally ran out of money for a brieft period - everything doesn't work perfectly all the time!

hmmm ..

Lets wait until next week and see what happens.

Lets also consider other information such as the incredibly rapid attempt to do a merger/takeover. Not that this item of information is linked at all.

Lets just consider.

In Japan, the small banks, i.e. the ones who were going to be allowed to go to the wall, merged up as soon as they could in order to be too big to be allowed to fail.

Doesn't all this secret squirrel stuff just add the the rumours and uncertainty, surely they should be open and relaxed about it.

mrmickey. I agree. As it's not open and relaxed it makes you wonder what they're hiding. But then again, as Uncle Tom suggests; it could be a non-story, just important folk who are used to never discussing anything with anyone, this maintaining their aura of great self-importance.

Barclays is back at the trough, looking for more loans.

Meanwhile HSBC is looking to expnad it's presence in the city.
London councils reject HSBC’s ‘mega-stores’
Quote:
"HSBC has lost a fight to open a ‘mega-store’ bank in Piccadilly Circus, but vowed to battle on with its £400m expansion plans.
Westminster City Council refused plans for a bank at the former Virgin Megastore at 225-227 Piccadilly in the Criterion building this month.
HSBC hoped to open its own flagship ‘mega-store’ concept featuring a cafe.
HSBC plans a second London store in Knightsbridge. However, Kensington and Chelsea council has indicated it will not grant planning permission, and HSBC is in negotiations with the council before it submits an application.
Robert Davis, Westminster council’s cabinet member for planning, said: ’Piccadilly is in the heart of London's shopping hub and it was decided that it should remain as a retail outlet.’"
...
"The £400m programme is part of a push to reposition banking in the retail sector and overcome the threat to high street banking from the internet and call centres.
Despite the setback at Piccadilly Circus and in Knightsbridge, HSBC has had success outside of London."
etc. ...

HSBC are wasting their time and money in acquiring a megastore in London prime retail. Planners hate the idea no matter how you drum it up as destination superstore of global proportions. They have been agent led and ill advised. Someone should tell the boss how it is and give him a reality check. Are advisors really too afraid to explain in simple terms when things clearly aren't going to work? It will get through planning outside London but forget Picadilly, Oxford St and Brompton Road - cloud cuckoo land. Birmingham would love it!

As your own eyes witness — WTC Building #7 (a 47-story high-rise not

classic controlled demolition with explosives:

(and some non-standard characteristics)

1.

Rapid onset of “collapse”

2.

Sounds of explosions
at ground floor - a full second prior to collapse

3.

Symmetrical “collapse”

– through the path of greatest resistance – at
nearly free-fall speed — the columns gave no resistance

4.

“Collapses” into its own footprint

– with the steel skeleton broken up for shipment

9.

Expert corroboration
from the top European Controlled Demolition professional

10.

Fore-knowledge
of “collapse” by media, NYPD, FDNY

And exhibited none of the characteristics of destruction by fire, i.e.

1.

Slow onset with large visible deformations

2.

Asymmetrical collapse which follows the path of least resistance
(laws of conservation of momentum would cause a falling,
to the side most damaged by the fires)

3.

Evidence of fire temperatures capable of softening steel

4.

High-rise buildings

with much larger, hotter, and longer lasting fires have never “collapsed”.

(and some non-standard characteristics)

1.

Extremely rapid onset of “collapse”

2.

Sounds of explosions and flashes of light
witnessed near the beginning of the "collapse" by over 100 first responders

3.

"Squibs", or focused explosions, 40 floors below the “collapsing”
building seen in all the videos

4.

Mid-air pulverization
of 90,000 tons of concrete and steel decking, filing cabinets &
1000 people – mostly to dust

blew out windows in buildings 400 feet away

10.

Lateral ejection
of thousands of individual 4 - 20 ton steel beams up to 500 feet

11.

Total destruction of the building

down to individual structural steel elements – obliterating the steel core structure

12.

Tons of molten Metal
found by FDNY and numerous other experts under all 3 high-rises
