Seems a pretty reasonable assessment to me...

If anyone thinks that the prospects of food prices driving inflation higher have diminshed they only need to Google 'wheat prices' on the News tab to see the records tumbling across the globe.

The latest inflation stats truly left me speechless. I really don't know anybody whose inflation is 1.9%. I would love it if it was but the mechanism to create the stats must be seriously flawed and be due a complete overhaul.

Is there anyone who truely believes that inflation droped from 2.4% to 1.9% in the last month? I doubt it. Surely someone must question the way this figure was arrived at, and the individuals who compiled it. Bearing in mind the goverment got the figures on immigration, the prison population and the cost of the olympics wrong, why is inflation, unemployment and other economic data accepted unchallenged. It seems a coincidence that good figues always come when economists, politicians and the public are expecting the opposit. Perhaps I'm just sceptic at heart.
