I think this government just like the last Thatcher government does not want the responsibility of having to look after people hence getting rid of social housing and encouraging people to buy. Just like selling off utilities to private hands. When i hear stories in the press of Mr and Mrs Bloggs getting into a lot of debt and how irresponsible they are, well I say this government has been exactly the same GB couldn't manage his 'purse strings' very well either hence building a 'strong' economy on a credit bubble just like Thatcher. So cynically this could be the reason why this government lets BTLs off with the tax - put social housing in private hands.
