July: the tipping point
FT.com: House price rises slow to 15-month low
"House price growth stalled in July, bringing annual price growth down to single digits and resuming an underlying downward trend..."
So, if prices rose only 0.1% this month, and the growth rate is resuming it's downward trend, that means that next month we will get what? Correct, 'negative price growth'...

"Neative price growth", which is sort of like the negative price falls we've had until recently, only different.
"Shock: house prices fall by -0.1%!"
ha ha ha :)

How are the figures calculated? Is this another recent dodgy average in which 90% of properties went down in price and a few London mansions went up by 20%. How awful it would be if they went down by 0.1%. You could just picture the faces in the Channel 4 and BBC property production departments.

Yeah, the number of articles that are titled 'house prices fall', and your heart races and you read the details, and oh look, it's only the rate of growth that has fallen. Hopefully now we get some proper price falls!
Heh, -0.1% next month is probably true, but psychologically even that might be enough to get the ball rolling in our favour.

I love it when a plan comes together.
Kirsty at Channel 4, and all the others who like to play there part in splurging utter crap, read it and weep. You can only keep the truth hidden for so long and then it eventually comes to the surface.

This is that "dead stop" I was harping about coming through into the figures.
The VIs will have to work really really hard to counter this one.
