Speaking on BBC’s Politics show the soon to be prime minister Gordon Brown pledged that the government would look to address the current housing crises of affordability for first time buyers.

Deception and disinformation on an unprecented scale. Firstly the trickster spends 10 years creating the problem and then continues to deceive by saying that he'll do something about it. No wonder New Labour don't take credit card fraud seriously as a crime, their economy is a fraud and the victims will be the citizens of the United Kingdom who will pay the price for this scam.

Notice that there is no timescale to the so called 50% budget increase, by the time he gets round to it he may not need to do anything as the market may have corrected itself. Having done infrastructure option studies for the government in the past, one of their favourite default options is always to do nothing.
The best thing about talk and doing nothing is it is CHEAP.

Scott - I hope you're not suggesting we have a massive cull. If 40 million die, there'd be homes for everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!! Baggsy me, not one of the 40 million.

Problem is that the Housing Corporation's budget hasn't kept up with HPI - so the Govt is priced out of the market as well as everyone else. In fact this injection of £3bn a year just adds to HPI.
Councils should compulsory purchase agricultural or ex-industrial land at Existing Use Value and then give themselves a change of use for housing. This would be a bit more socialist than the current system of giving our hard-earned money to wealthy landowners but then I guess this is a bit old labour.

I wouldn't vote BNP ever. However in times of economic turmoil far-right politics seem to become popular.
The only time I've ever seen politicians rattled is when the BNP have won some election or other. Probably because the cosy Labour / Conservative / LibDem gravy train is under threat.
As far as Brown building more houses goes this is nothing more than a smokecreen. By the time these new houses have got through the planning process and NIMBYs legal action, there will be no real increase in house building levels.

Never a good time or idea for the far right vote... Always think, who is more interested in the populus the paternalisitic old conservative party under Hurd or the spiv ridden spin meister's under New Labour who incidetnally want to sever their links with the only reality check they have with working people, the unions!
