A home loan affordability index shows the cost of a mortgage rose in May to 79.3 per cent of the average weekly take-home pay.

Thank you c.s. for posting the NZ property market news.
It is always interesting cos we are planning to emigrate to NZ if the UK housing market does not return to a "normal" level by 2008...
Considering the NZ base rate being at 8% at the mo, I can see mortgage repayment growing to such big chunk out of people’s wages when the UK follows suite.
