I've said it once, and I'll say it again. We need legislation to differentiate between holiday and second homes and dwellinghouses and need to give planning authorities the powers to resist additional holiday homes in locations where they have identified, with an evidence led appraisal, that there is a saturation of holiday and second homes. Couple that with a council tax system that doesn't give discounts to second home owners and that doesn't give tax relief to investors.

2nd homes do cause major problems and MPs from rural areas often make statement about the damage 2nd homes cause. But they forget about their 'own' second homes in London. This is my home town and we have more 2nd homes than anywhere else in the UK. But no MP would ever stand up for the the London locals becauze of their own 2nd home interests.
