What a lot of nonsense to "put a property for sale to beat the Hips deadline" in order to save £300 to £500 and perhaps avoid additional wretched papers!!!
Please give me a decent reason for doing so...

"The rental market is the latest casualty of the government's indecision over Hips, which would have required sellers to provide information about their properties before they could sell them."
Until 2 weeks ago agents were urging tenants to enter long term contracts to avoid rent rises "as soon as landlords start selling to beat the HIPs deadline there will be a squeeze in rental supply.... hurry up sign your rental agreements, poor tenants, poor punters"
Now, since BTLers experience voids the agent spinmasters have to blame HIPs.
Keep blaming, keep blaming... the housing market is in a big state of confusion, with cheerleaders forced to change the tune every day or more...

And as it is now very unlikely that HIP's will be brought in this year (and probably not next either)?

I checked rental prices in Guildford a couple of days ago and they appear to be down by 1/3.
What was going for 1200-1400/month six months ago now appears to be being offered at 800-900/month
