Brown to stamp on private equity’s ‘unfair’ 10% tax

GORDON BROWN is to clamp down on the tax breaks enjoyed by private equity that allow its executives to pay as little as 10% tax.

His switch of policy follows a growing furore over how private equity is using capital-gains tax (CGT) relief to minimise its liabilites.
