The housing crash has arrived ... 20p per night for a cheap bedsit ;=)

Times Online: 20p for a bed in London? That’s a real convenience

"They’re paying just 20p a night for a bed and a bathroom, so I guess you can’t blame them." ... Nuff said.

For some reason young "professional" people in London would prefer to pay two grand a month mortage for a 1 bedder over a kebab shop
in Dumps Hill; living the London property ladder dream.

Doesn't exactly support the good old "supply and demand" theory. I thought all Eastern Europeans were coming over here and buying up all the properties.

Damn right Doomwatch. I am in London and originally from Stoke. Although the rural life in Staffordshire is unrivaled, there are just no damn decent jobs. Stoke don't make pottery anymore, Crewe don't make Bentleys anymore, Tyneside does not make ships anymore, a nuclear powerplant in scotland was shut down, liverpool docks is dead, Birmingham's rover is over, and so on and so on.
The financial sector is the only thing left on the island and it is in London.

Yeah but it sucks when in my case I have to live in London due my work and my wife's - I pay £500 / wk rent and it's nothing that special. When I think of what we could get elsewhere for that... It's really fu**d when I think about it.

So much for BTL. at 20p a night me thinks the Polish are onto a winner - they can actually make some money and take it home rather than having some greedy land lord fleece them of their meagre wages.
