That's another fine mess you've gotten us into Gordon

Torygraph Online: Brown to build 'eco-towns'

Another of Gordon's great plans. I wonder if it will be as effective as Tax Credits by trapping people in poor housng and removing incentives to do anything about it; or perhaps it will be like the NHS? Cost of administrative up by 4 times but no overall increase in productivity. This smacks of being complete bollocks.

Just to comment on Brown and NHS.

How can he say he's going to make it a priority? Hasn't he and Blair been the architects of the reforms over the last ten years? I just find it amazing his own party accept this.

How is going to explain the economy etc if/when it all starts going wrong over next couple of years?

Maybe blame the the Torries when they were last in power?

And where will the jobs be in these "eco towns?"

Oh wait, people will have to commute. Very eco friendly that is. Somehow this looks like and idea
not thought through properly

To be carbon friendly you need to build communities and shops where the jobs are, and increasingly
that isn't in the UK anymore.

~Brown will come with a bang and go with a whimper - we'll just have to put up with a rash of policy 'initiative' as to tries to prove just how different he if from Blair... yawn.

Maybe your right, maybe your wrong, time will tell. I am not a supporter of either brown or blair at present but give the guy an opportunity so we see what he can do. Even though he is not carasmatic I do still have respect for his intellegence and his ability to convince. Lets be honest he's led everyone to believe the economy is still strong and we have nothing to fear on the housing front and the majority have just lapped it up for years which will result in a massive correction in my opinion.

Brown has once again reminded me this week of two old sayings:-)

1) Talk is cheap
2) Actions speak louder than words.

Blair in a brown wrapper...

As a carbon based life-form we could start by negating about 120 kilos of the stuff by burying him in a disused salt mine somewhere...
