"Meanwhile, customs officials said yesterday that they are targeting private landlords in the buy-to-let sector over thousands of pounds in unpaid tax."

Good point Mike
And if you sell up, the tax man will still come after you because the tax man can look back up to 6 years in order to claim outstanding tax. And the best bit, if you can't prove to him how much tax you owe, he can assess you for what he thinks you will likely owe and make you pay that - until you prove him wrong.
Oh dear. What a pity.

Nice one, but just how long will it take for this crash to happen, and will the MPC have the guts to put up the Base Rate again. Looking at the adverts for morgages, you can still get 4.99% fixed, so are the lenders going to crash first. I'm putting on my tin hat and getting under the sofa until they get it sorted.

Maybe my landlord read this article. He phoned me last night to say he wants to sell the flat I'm renting from him! In his own words "...I've got a lot of equity tied up in it... but if the estate agents tell me its worth what I paid for it three years ago, I won't sell"
