Takeo Fukui: 'we thought the UK was in Europe'

Honda's president Takeo Fukui has threatened to cut off future investment in Britain unless the country joins the euro, admitting that the Japanese car producer had made an "error" building its car plant in Swindon.

He'll be eating his words before too long. I would give the Euro 10 years at the most. Club-Med and Germany can't continue sharing the same currency for much longer.
Thanks to our ejection from the ERM and the determination of Jimmy Goldsmith, we will not be in the eye of the storm when the Euro goes bang, although we will obviously not escape unscathed.

Sorry John Petley, your EU scepticism has clearly got the better of you, as it did with that barking loony Goldsmith. The world is gearing up to replace the $ with the €. It’s already crossed the Rubicon.

Honda are just putting in their excuses early. What they really want to do is drive down manufacturing costs by making cars in one of the recently join EU states.

Maybe the euro will survive but the club medders and Ireand will bail.
