I think peak oil is bullshit, same as it was bullshit in the 1970's (the last time dollar support was required) In order to buy oil, you must first buy US dollars, and we all know what happens to any oil producing Nation that suggests selling its oil production in any other currency. They very quickly become 'terrorists.'
Wise to remember that 'the house' always wins in the end.
