Typical quote from the BBC:-

'This compares to just £82,000 average debt for families with no children.'

Correct me if I'm wrong but if you don't have any children you are definitely not a family!

Ok so families with 2 kids have GBP100K debt, this I can understand. Why have "families" with no kids (couples) a debt of GBP82K? Either the kids should have left home - and by then have also paid off the mortgage (no debt) or the debt should be minimal. There is no excuse for this, this sounds like profligate (me me me) living by former parents or couples opting not to have families in the first place, therefore reducing the next generation of taxpayers.
