What a stupid analogy. It is far more likely that the elastic band will snap and ping you on the fingers without the brick moving an inch.

I like the "brick and elastic" comparison... but then wouldnt have been better if the MPC had raised rates by half point in two consecutive months... why are they delivering this medicine little by little... still hoping the inflation goes down by supernatural intervention?

The Guardian is just a VI mouthpiece these days (especially politically) - same bleating message to the BoE: "Please don't increase rates".
