This is so depressing.

The klutz who engineered the house price boom now stands in front of the cameras offering a solution to the mess he created. And the solution is to build more houses when he knows that he created the problem by lowering rates to overheat the housing market. No taxes on BTL properties, no measures to reduce speculation, just more fuel thrown onto the fire.

Soon we'll have him standing in front of newly built £60k future slums, and when all the cameras have gone away, the speculators will quietly move in for cash purchases to rent out for £1.5k a month to young families.

We've seen it all before. He knows it's got nothing to do with supply and demand - the Thamesmeade area is living proof of oversupply, where banks won't even lend.

What good will more housing do when it will all be snapped up by BTL speculators with 100% interest-only, no-questions-asked mortgages?!

Well said, Paul said

My firm manages all this new build crap, ahem, wonderful apartments stuffed with chavs on benefits and owned by the BTLocracy...they are becoming slums. Don't worry they are no good for BTLs for much longer as they are not profitable (service charges are huge). These slums will be bought cheap by HM Govt and used to house the destitute, the mad and ayslum seekers. Some will be turned into open prisons for our (EU's biggest) criminal population.

CH**** what a bloody awful mess.

And all you who voted Labour only have yourselves to blame, they will most likely be voted in again.
