The Tories are no better - they are ducking away from the real problem - immigration. According to migrationwatch, 83% of the projected housing requirements are caused by immigration. Leave the EU, operate a Swiss-style work permit system and not allow any dependents in and we wouldn't need ANY new towns at all - "eco" or otherwise.

Brown had the opportunity at the last budget to show his green credentials by giving incentives to people to make there homes more efficient and he did nothing - giving tax breaks on zero carbon homes for those who can afford the serious money needed is never going to make any dent in the UK carbon emissions. Clearly he doesn't give a stuff

Considering that Brown is reputed to treat people with contempt he may well believe that the British public are too stupid to see through his spin. An assumption that will most probably cost him his job sooner rather than later. Blair had something about him that could be described as "likeable" whereas Brown is little more than rancid meat with eyes.

I think Denzil is showing his generous disposition!
Can you imagine what Brown will be like when he has control of everything. I wonder if we'll see a massive centralisation of power onto 10 Downing Street?

Why do the tories have to disagree with EVERYTHING that labour do ro suggest EXCEPT the war in Iraq?
Do they get up in the morning and think "Right. How can I really p1ss off the general public today?"

Well the Gulper is our dear leader in waiting I will have you know - you should not be rude to him - anyway remember he can always move the economic goalposts - but yes John I agree the question is do we want young indigenous children or immigrant children ? Is there a problem with which?
I think on balance from a disciplinarian stance (6 of the best!), the immigrant population will be better encouraged as they will hold down inflation for the Gulper and all and in doing so hold down IR's so Blur etc. can go on their merry way as before.
It might ironically only be the BNP or race riots that call a halt to their plans (and I AM NOT AN EXPONENT OF THE BNP BY THE WAY !).
