"There is a case for a half-point rise, at least for a while, to admit that the Bank messed up and does not intend to do so again."
So there is not only wishful thinking buts also incompetence at the highest level as well. How is it that monetary policy is being decided by idiots who seem completely oblivious to the lessons of economic history??? Playing games with money WITH A FUNDAMENTALLY UNSOUND ECONOMY always ends in a catastrophe.

There is a very harsh spotlight on the MPC right now, and rightly so.
The MPC's peers and boss Crash Gordon may excuse their complacency and smugness but the media and public won't.

Good article. No, a great article. It should strike fear into the hearts of all those who take the currently benign economic conditions for granted, such as BofE, Mervyn King, Gordon Brown, Tony Blair, Mr and Mrs Middle England.. the list is never ending...

I wonder how much their decisions have been influenced by a 'miracle' Chancellor whose whole miracle is based on consumer debt?

An OK article. Nothing new in its content but certainly good to see it being said in the mainstream press. It's a shame some numpty had to ruin it by leaving the totally incorrect comment concerning income tax!

To be fair, David_2004 wasn't all that bullish. Optimistic for the housing market but not that bullish.

Hi,
I want property to crash guys, I am quite young and would like to one day afford a house in the UK.
I would LOVE for house prices to fall, I just can't see it happening that's all.
I just think sometimes that when oil rises by like a dollar and you guys predict a huge crash you are going over the top and just kinda like hoping for a crash and not basing it on economics.
