Time wasters essential for estate agents survival

Firstrung: HIPs could wipe out the significant ‘see what happens’ sellers group - NAEA

Now the Firstrung team are struggling to get our heads around this, you'd think the NAEA would want time-wasters eliminated from what can be a time consuming and expensive process. But no, they actively encourage it apparently. How on earth can serious vendors be put off by the cost of a HIP? If so what kind of fragile business environment do estate agents operate in, moreover what does it reveal about the simplicities of the average agents' business model?

agents are very many, with low barriers to entry, many of them are doomed to go out of business

When I look at properties, a lot of estate agents in West London are whispering to me now "they're very flexible on price".

You could draw a comparison with the 'buy an apartment abroad' agent which was fuelled by the Spanish property hype. Oh where are they now? the one in my town went six months ago.

Estate agents for the UK market have taken the town over. They hopefully weren't to niaive to take out long term leases.

Dobber. You remind me of my friend who works in sales. He rotates depending on what is selling best so he always gets good commission. He used to sell mobile phones, 3 years ago he then moved on to houses, now he has moved on to jewelry because he smells a rat in the property trade. He always knows the next way to take your money.
