ONS latest report
Firstrung: Changing lives of todays children - ONS social trends
It's a crying shame that the mainstream media will concentrate on 'Mummy's Boy' headlines rather than examining this study in more detail. There are some stark stats on display, particularly in relation to housing. Editors using the ONS stats could have concentrated on this stark fact: Developers have either chosen, or been forced to build mainly two bed apartments on reclaimed brownfield sites at record prices...not quite the headline grabber is it...

This genuinely is a crying shame indeed. In not that many years time my kids will graduate and may like to buy their own place etc. I'm mindful of the fact that what with paying back Uni fees, investing hard for a pension because there won't be such a thing by the time they retire they have absolutely NO chance of affording a place of their own. The future generations of this country have been shafted by this current government and the sad the thing is the generation who have been shafted the most are the generation least likely to vote. The late teens and twenties and even thirty somethings need to get their arses down to the ballot box and make their voices heard. I don't blame their apathy but they should not moan about it if they don't even exercise their right to vote.

With you 100% on this Denzil, likewise my eldest is 14 and already I'm beginning to wonder... I've long accepted I'll work till I die, TBH I'd die if I stopped swimming anyhow ;¬) but I can't help thinking there's a time bomb ticking on all the measurements you mention.
