UK Citizens Ripped off as never before in gigantic scam

Express: Pay more, get less tax con

Councils were last night accused of ripping off households by hiking tax while slashing services like rubbish collection. We are paying twice as much council tax as we did 10 years ago, but core services, which we used to take for granted, are actually being cut back. "With council tax at £1,000 a year, many councils are nonetheless cutting back on libraries, public conveniences and services for the elderly."
"Many top officials enjoy £100,000-plus wages and perks along with pension pots worth over £1million."
"And it is estimated that up to a third of some authorities’ budgets goes on pensions."

No surprise here this is all part of this appeasing to the loony left green lobby. Aparantly though only collecting the Garbage once every two weeks is not unhygenic according to a Government Propoganda Paper (Sorry study).

But my advice Council elections coming up and do as I intend Kick out every sitting coucillor, but vote I do every year.

I strongly support SNP's policy to scrap council tax and replace it with 3% additional income tax, which will save thousands of pensioners from misery, fuel poverty and starvation. These rotten council bosses provide the electoral basis for the Silky Teflon government that sucks money from the poor and generously distribute it to the war mongers, death merchants and property charlatans. Undoubtedly they used to chant "Scrap Trident!!" in their youth. Now look what they have done!, "As long as you are faithful to the Neo-Labour, you can enjoy high life wasting millions of taxpayers money whether in central government or in council offices" and what is also true is "As long as you vote for Neo-labor, we guarantee your house price will skyrocket, making you (feel, at least) rich".

Londoners complacement with the housing boom are not entitled to complain the unbearable stench from the garbage bins this summer.

It's all part of the financial vote rigging indulged in by Neo-Labour in the pursuit of a one party state. Plunder the country by any means as long and severely as possible in order to ply core voters with tax-payers money, via non-jobs, income support, tax credits etc etc. Unfortunately like the property market there comes a point when the country as a whole cannot afford it's government just like the housing market.

While the SNPs scheme might sound good it depends exactly who you are, firstly their figures are wrong and its nearer 4.6% of joint gross income that will be required.

What does that mean?, yes pensioners will be better off, those on income support or benefits will continue to get a massive rebate, there are a few very rich that will pay loads, however most families in the UK have an average gross joint income of 45K ( Government figures ) and will end up paying £2070 PA, thats regardless what sort of dwelling they have or where in the country you are.

I know a little about local authorities and the bill will have to be paid one way or the other.

As for governments it is time for a new start, i mean who in their right mind is going to vote Blair, Brown or Cameron.

if you want to blame someone think back 20 years to the rates system, Maggie had mates paying 25K a year at today's prices and POW overnight their bill was £1500 a year, guess who ends up paying the difference courtesy of Maggie's "Council Tax "?

enuii, we've been living in a one party state for a very long time: Britain is run by the Vested Interests party. You may know it by a number of names, like 'Labour' or 'Conservative', but essentially they all have one job: maintain the status quo. The rest, i.e., democracy, is just window dressing.

harold,

Spot on. Inevitable with a two political party system, they end-up with very little to choose between them and just take "buggins' turn"
at being in power. It's the same situation in the USA.

Proportional representation is much better at delivering some sort of democracy, which is of course why the main parties oppose it.

Just shows there is no money in the pot at treasury level. Big recession on the way and of course the Tory party will be lumbered with it and will get the blame....

"The demise of all weekly rubbish collections moved nearer yesterday when a report commissioned by the Government claimed fortnightly rounds were not necessarily a health hazard."

We've had bi-weekly collections for several years - as a two person household, we just about last the 2 weeks, but I feel sorry for any family households. Once the 'bin police' start fining people for putting rubbish in their recycling bins, you can bet that the hedgerows will become even more littered with bin-bags.

Being a bigger family the government hasn't taken into account all the extra visits (once a week for me) people like myself and my friends are making to the land fill sites!! Surely this ios causing more environmental harm?

Fortnightly rubbish collection....not necessarily a health hazard.

This remains to be seen..cities in many warmer countries have DAILY rubbish collection. ROME being one of them.
I suppose a long hot summer will sort this one out! I am suprised the service unions are standing for this.
Nothing much worse than a fly blown bin once that roller bin is overfilled!
