Schools lottery to anger parents who bought houses in catchment
Guardian: Parents who paid a premium for houses in good school areas face heavy losses
In those areas considering a schools 'lottery', ie, where the best schools pick there registers at random from those who apply, there is likely to be a backlash from parents that have paid inflated house prices, sometimes up to £100k extra, in order to secure their child a place at their desired school.

A prime example of the dog eat dog, selfish, "well at least I am safe in my SUV", self gain at any cost attitude that is prevalent in todays society. I'd sooner rent and send my kids to a real school than be classed as one of these egocentric families.
Tough sh*t indeed.

Putting aside the prejudices against the poor bl**dy middle classes does this mean that zoning has been thrown out the window altogether? Does this mean that there are going to be fleets of SUVs making their way across the river from leafy Muswell hill to the schools on the crack estates of South London or is it done with a little more intelligence - i.e. the SUVs will only have to head to their closest crack estate?

Either way Monty, by the time they employ the new lottery method, the SUV drivers will haev seen their BTL portfolios - and the equity that bought them their unnecessary SUVs - disappear. I gather that the crack districts will be the only places that will be able to afford the flood of second hand SUVs that will undoubtedly come onto the market.

I beg to differ. No self respecting crack dealing pimp would be seen dead in a second hand SUV unless it came from a reputable gang of car-jackers.

Does SUV stand for "suddenly under-valued"?

Dying for an HPC, but sick of constant midde-class bashing by the lazy and jealous. Engineers and surgeons breed engineers and surgeons. If there's no proper reward system, who's going to do the important stuff? Illiterates? No reward = back to the dark ages.
