Firstrung: Local Government minister aims to calm fears on council tax rises
Local Government Minister Phil Woolas has today moved to reassure householders about how homes are valued for council tax purposes. He urged people to read the facts for themselves in a new guide published today by the Valuation Office Agency (VOA).

'Calm fears'!!! As if Council Tax rises are just a problem of presentation - people just haven't been pursuaded about the value of double IR tax rises. Typical New Labour bollox where everything has to boil down to image, presentation and spin.

that 500 quid you used to pay in "things can only get better" 1997 is now 1450 quid...still, houses have gone up in value and wages have gone up 20%...
