Can we simply build our way out of it?

Firstrung: Latest house price figures show urgent need for new affordable homes

David Orr, chief executive of the National Housing Federation, said: "Rising property values are good news for those lucky enough to be on the housing ladder already, but they spell misery for many thousands of people unable to afford a decent home. This isn't just a problem for first-time buyers; rampant housing inflation also means higher private rents and increasing strain on our shrinking affordable housing stock. There are currently 1.6 million households on housing waiting lists. This figure will soar unless the Government can get a grip on our affordability crisis.

So why are so many homes vacant? Follow Orr's logic and UK plc would end-up looking like a gigantic Wimpy estate - no offence to those who like in one, but no thanks. We cannot simply build our way out of this; we've got to switch off the cheap credit (and save what remains of the countryside).

I love Mr Orr's comment as round my way even indecent homes are technically unaffordable. And as for rising property values being good news for those who already own one, one is the key word, because if you only own one house and live in it it's value is irrelevant until you've paid for it!

It's all B****cks and merely serves to rob the economic future from this country's young people who have to pay for it at up to 6x salary over 40 years interest only, sustainable my a**e.

Hang on, isn't Prezza sorting all this mess out with his amazing £60k houses? Oh no, I forgot, he's an utter waste of carbon molecules (and fat cells!) and hasn;t done jack-sh*t since he was crowned Deputy Dawg back in '97.

The best use of fat cells I can think of is a pork belly dish I had at a japanese restaurant in Willesden. I'd trade Prescott for that any day of the week.

If I hear supply and demand again I am going to scream...this is about cheap credit, the behaviour or crowds/markets and greed....so the flipside of this is fear leading to panic. We are living in a fools paradise right now...reality is a matter of months away.

Sub prime lender New Century is going to go bust, this will make the major news channels on TV, watch then for something odd to happen in the markets....

I have several 'homes' you can rent at affordable rates, Ha Ha. Why do so many get hung up over renting? It's so cheap really:

Bring it on...

Well East coast girls are hip
I really dig those styles they wear
And the Southern girls with the way they talk
They knock me out when I'm down there

The Mid-West farmer's daughters really make you feel alright
And the Northern girls with the way they kiss
They keep their boyfriends warm at night

I wish they all could be California
I wish they all could be California
I wish they all could be California girls

The West coast has the sunshine
And the girls all get so tanned
I dig a french bikini on Hawaii island
Dolls by a palm tree in the sand

I been all around this great big world
And I seen all kinds of girls
Yeah, but I couldn't wait to get back in the states
Back to the cutest girls in the world

I wish they all could be California
I wish they all could be California
I wish they all could be California girls

I wish they all could be California
(Girls, girls, girls yeah I dig the)
I wish they all could be California
(Girls, girls, girls yeah I dig the)
I wish they all could be California
(Girls, girls, girls yeah I dig the)
I wish they all could be California
(Girls, girls, girls yeah I dig the)
