The outlook for the US economy in 2007 has improved, research has indicated, suggesting that interest rates may stay on hold all year.

What complete twaddle, if you look at the other US economic headlines on the same page, in order, you will find 1) US Manufacturing in Surprise Fall, 2) US Unemployment on the Rise. It's good to see that the US can rely on Cheap Stuff from China to keep the tills ringing in the stores that account for 70% of US GDP. Truly an economic miracle of Gordonian Brownian proportions, God Bless the Dollar.

Why would a stengthening economy make IRs less likely. I thought it was usually the other way around?
